A whole turkey is probably the biggest thing that most Americans have to cook. Every year hundreds of people in the US are wondering how to do it correctly. Experts give some tips on how to cook a whole turkey on a large number of guests.
Typically, 7-pound turkey is enough for 10 people dinner. Frozen turkey should be defrosted in the original packaging in the refrigerator and not at room temperature. You can also defrost it in cold water. In this case, it is necessary to change the water every half an hour, it will take 5 hours in total. If you prefer only fresh meat, you need to buy it not earlier than 2 days before the holiday.

To soak the turkey completely, you need to warm up the oven up to 170 degrees. The ends of the wings and legs should be tied to the body with the thread or wrapped with foil, in order not to be burnt. You need to cook the turkey with the breast up on a rack for a shallow roasting pan, which should be raised by at least 2-3 cm from the bottom of the pan.
