Once you're going to set off to Germany tomorrow or maybe you're already there, don't miss the chance with your Ukrainian bride to attend the Folk festivities "Opernplatzfest" in Frankfurt am Main.
Every year in June, large-scale folk festivities take place on the Frankfurt-am-Main Opera Square, which lasts the whole week. The Opernplatzfest is one of the main social events of this German city. Sometimes it is called an outdoor ball. The building of the Old Opera or the Opera House was built in the style of the Italian Renaissance in 1872-1880.
On May 23, 1944, British aircraft destroyed the building, turning it into ruins. However, after the war, on the initiative of the citizens, the Old Opera was restored, and the square in front of it became the favourite resting place for the Frankfurt people. Now you can treat yourself to champagne here. The first festival was held here in 1978 and since then has been held every year. Traditionally, in June numerous stores open on the square, offering delicacies from all over the world to residents and guests of the city. Before the Old Opera, snow-white pavilions where you can treat yourself to champagne are set.
Around the fountain, on the square, there are performances of the festive cultural program. As a rule, it includes performances by popular artists. Another spectacle can be enjoyed outside the official stage: during the festival days on the Opera Square, all the famous and rich people of Frankfurt are gathered - well-known politicians, businessmen, and cultural figures. They, as a rule, also become the object of attention of curious townspeople and tourists.
