The fascinating story of Slavic hockey told by a Slavic woman

Eastern Europe is the successor of the glorious past of Soviet Union hockey, whose team has repeatedly confirmed its professionalism with its active, efficient, well-coordinated team play at the World Championships and Olympic Games. "Red Machine" was the nickname the hockey team of the USSR got for the victory in the most difficult matches of different levels with experienced professionals from abroad. Many of the victories of the Soviet hockey players were as strong and unequivocal as devastating as the defeat of their opponents. The whole sports world spoke and wrote about the Soviet hockey school. The names of their national team coaches rattled the whole world: Anatoly Tarasov, Arkady Chernyshev, Vsevolod Bobrov, Boris Kulagin, Viktor Tikhonov ... The names of the players are absolutely another fascinating story.

How many times the Soviet national hockey team have brought gold medals from major competitions to their homeland? 8 times the players became Olympic champions, and 27 times - the world champions. There is something to be proud of and to celebrate that! Let us remember those glorious pages of hockey, and recollect the gold Olympics: 1956, 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976, 1984, 1988, 1992 – these are the years of Olympic glory. Once their team became the champion of the Olympic Games four times in a row. One time - three times in a row. Games of 1956 was the debut of our hockey team in the Olympics and it immediately brought the Olympic glory! The absence of gold at the World Championships since 1993, was replaced by a succession of new victories: 2008, 2009, 2012, and 2014 again made the Eastern Europe team the world champion and again the hockey circles are talking about the "red machine", which from 1963 to 1971 became the champion, of the World 9 times in a row.
